With only three runners competing in meets last year, the Maumee girls cross country team didn’t have enough athletes to qualify for team standings.
This season, the Panthers not only have enough runners to field a full team, they finished in the top half of their first meet.

Led by Arriana Dugan’s 12th-place finish, Maumee totaled 277 points to finish ninth out of 19 teams at Saturday’s Darin Goodman Night Meet, hosted by Eastwood. The meet had 262 girls finish the race.
Dugan finished in 20 minutes, 22.46 seconds. She was followed by a trio of freshmen in their first high school meet — Chloe Perez (40th, 21:57.52), Cienna Fraley (60th, 22:19.31) and Bentley Stewart (86th, 23:45.14). Senior Penny Farley rounded out the scoring runners, finishing in 27:42.57.
