In just her second high school cross country race, Maumee senior Teagan Kennedy showed her debut performance was no fluke.
Kennedy finished fourth among Division II runners at the prestigious Tiffin Carnival on Saturday with a time of 18 minutes, 20 seconds. Nearly 200 runners from more than 27 schools across the state competed in the race at Hedges-Boyer Park.
Arriana Dugan placed 29th in 19:54.6, helping the Panthers to a 10th-place team finish with 304 points.
Three freshmen came in next for Maumee. Chloe Perez (21:54.5) and Cienna Fraley (21:54.6) finished back-to-back in 88th and 89th place, while Bentley Stewart rounded out the scoring in 22:45.8.
Senior Penny Farley crossed in 27:28.3, and classmate Hala Jabri finished in 21:39.5.
Boys race
Aaron Powell led the Maumee boys cross country team at the Tiffin Carnival, clocking 18:14.1.
Noah Wagner came in next at 19:05.1, followed closely by David Ybarra at 19:11.2.
Bryson Danielski ran a 19:33.7, Luke Reeves finished in 19:47, and Eithan Curson rounded out the Panthers in 24:06.3.
