Over the past five years, the Maumee Athletic Boosters have raised more than $150,000 to support the middle school and high school athletic departments.

This month, they are giving the community another chance to pitch in.

The Boosters will host their second annual Drone Drop fundraiser on Wednesday, Sept. 17, between the boys and girls soccer games against Eastwood at Kazmaier Stadium.

As in 2024, hundreds of foam balls will be dropped from a drone hovering above the field. The ball landing closest to the target will win $599 cash. Other prizes include cash, a Yeti cooler pack and a Game One gift card.

The biggest change is the cost: tickets are $20 this year, down from $25 a year ago.

Last year’s event grossed more than $6,000, thanks in large part to sponsor All Seasons Toledo, which is sponsoring again in 2025.

“All Seasons has agreed to sponsor the drone drop again this year, so we’re hoping to raise more than last year,” Boosters president James Nino said. “All of the funds we raise, other than our 50/50 tickets which go toward our scholarships, go to our general fund to pay for uniforms, equipment needs, varsity letters and other pins and patches, senior night flowers and other Athletic Department requests.”

Tickets are available from coaches and student-athletes, in the Panther Den at select home events, and through the Boosters’ Venmo account (@MaumeeBoosters). Door-to-door ticket sales in Maumee are scheduled for Sunday.

Tickets will also be sold at the Boosters’ monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 3. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the high school Learning Commons.

The Boosters are a volunteer group that encourages community members to attend meetings and contribute new ideas, Nino said.
