A pair of Maumee golfers capped off their seasons with first-team All-Northern Buckeye Conference honors as both the girls and boys squads earned top-three finishes at the league championships on Tuesday at Green Hills Golf Course in Clyde.
For the girls, Kallie Yeager shot a 100 to place second overall among individuals, while Jadyn Netry followed closely in fourth with a 101. Both were named first-team All-NBC. Lillie Nye earned honorable mention with her round of 107, and Hannah Ruiz added a 124 to round out the Panthers’ scoring.
As a team, Maumee finished third with a 432. Otsego claimed the league crown with a 393, and Genoa was second at 424.
On the boys side, Maumee also placed third in the conference meet with a team score of 345, the squad’s lowest 18-hole total of the season. Eastwood took the top spot with a 318, while Genoa came in second at 330.
The Panthers’ scoring was balanced as J.J. Peace, Josh Pero, and Mateo Valadez all carded 86s, and Antonio Valadez added an 87. Peace and Antonio Valadez earned second-team All-NBC recognition, while Mateo Valadez was named honorable mention.
For the season, the Maumee boys placed fourth in the overall conference standings, behind Eastwood, Genoa and Lake.
On Monday, Maumee earned a win over Springfield in the fourth annual “Battle for the Walleye” match. All 13 Maumee golfers competed in a match play format against the Blue Devils at Valleywood Golf Course.
Winning their matches were Antonio Valadez, Peace, Pero, Owen Sloan, Archer Jaworski, Tommy Parker, Jaxon Kerr, Oliver West, Blake Smith, Ethan Mendelsohn. Mateo Valadez ended his match tied.
